Zara Tindall’s Best Friend Takes on Royal Duties as Princess Anne’s New Lady-in-Waiting

In a delightful twist of royal family dynamics, has welcomed a new Lady-in-Waiting who holds a special place in her heart.

This is none other than Dolly Maude, Zara Tindall’s best friend and an NHS nurse, who played a crucial role in the birth of Zara’s third child, Lucas.

The bond between these women runs deep, and now it’s officially recognized within the royal household.

Dolly Maude, a mother of four herself, was appointed earlier this year to assist Princess Anne with her royal duties.

The announcement came in the court circular on January 31, 2024, listing her alongside other notable appointments.

As a Lady-in-Waiting, Dolly’s responsibilities will include supporting Princess Anne at various royal engagements while also serving as a trusted companion.

One of Dolly’s first official tasks was attending the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on March 11, 2024.

Dressed elegantly in a tweed coat dress adorned with striking gold buttons and a Tudor-style hat, she certainly made a memorable impression at the prestigious event.

Meanwhile, Princess Anne dazzled attendees in a stunning crimson coat embellished with floral patterns and eastern motifs.

The royal household has confirmed that Princess Anne has a total of 11 ladies-in-waiting, one of whom accompanies her on formal occasions.

It seems that Dolly, with her extensive background in maternity care, is more than equipped for her new role.

Having spent 13 years as a maternity practitioner in Gloucestershire, she has firsthand experience in delivering babies, including Zara’s youngest.

Zara Tindall’s husband, Mike, has previously shared amusing anecdotes about the chaotic arrival of their son Lucas.

On his podcast, “The Good, The Bad and The Rugby,” he recounted how Dolly sprang into action when it became clear they wouldn’t make it to the hospital in time.

“It was a rush to get mats from the gym and towels down in the bathroom,” he recalled, emphasizing Dolly’s critical role during the unexpected home birth.

As a close friend, Dolly has been a steadfast presence in Zara’s life, proving to be invaluable during significant moments, including all three of Zara’s childbirth experiences.

A friend of Dolly’s recently described her as someone who shares Zara’s love for dogs and horses, making her a perfect fit for the royal family.

The relationship between Dolly and Princess Anne appears to be equally strong.

Reports highlight that Dolly is discreet, loyal, and well-suited to her new position.

Her ability to connect with both Zara and Princess Anne suggests that she will thrive in her role, contributing positively to the royal dynamic.

Dolly’s family life adds another layer to her character.

She and her husband, Chris, are proud parents to four children.

This balance between her duties as a Lady-in-Waiting and her responsibilities at home showcases her versatility and commitment.

Zara Tindall, married to former England rugby player Mike Tindall since 2011, has built a beautiful family over the years.

Together, they have three children: Mia, aged 10, Lena, aged 6, and Lucas, aged 3.

Dolly’s long-standing friendship with Zara, which includes being her maid of honour at their wedding, underscores the deep ties they share.
