Why Lady Louise Windsor is Not Yet a Tiara-Wearing Royal

Lady Louise Windsor, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, is about to celebrate her 20th birthday this November.

However, unlike her cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, she has yet to don a tiara.

This absence of royal adornment isn’t due to any oversight; there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation behind it.

Lady Louise is currently focused on her studies at St. Andrews University, where she is pursuing English literature.

While her cousins wore tiaras during their weddings, Louise is expected to follow suit only when she ties the knot herself.

In fact, both Beatrice and Eugenie waited until their respective wedding anniversaries before wearing their crowns.

Eugenie graced her wedding with the exquisite Greville Emerald Kokoschnik tiara in October 2018, while Beatrice opted for Queen Mary’s diamond tiara during her nuptials in July 2020.

As for Lady Louise, she has access to a range of stunning jewelry from her mother, Sophie, who received the Anthem tiara upon marrying in 1999.

This particular tiara is said to incorporate pieces from the late II’s personal collection, making it not just beautiful but also historically significant.

Recently, the Anthem tiara underwent a transformation, further enhancing its allure.

Sophie also possesses an aquamarine tiara, which can be reimagined as a necklace, showcasing her versatility in royal fashion.

Additionally, she frequently wears the late Queen’s five-aquamarine tiara, adding a touch of nostalgia to her ensemble.

The tradition of royal women wearing tiaras has evolved over the years, with most now reserving these ornate pieces for formal occasions like state dinners and significant ceremonies.

Interestingly, stands out as one of the few royals who wore a tiara before her wedding day.

In the past, it was common for royal ladies to sport these grand accessories at various social events, including premieres and balls.

However, the modern royal family tends to save tiaras for more formal gatherings, marking a shift in royal customs.

In June, made headlines by debuting her York tiara at the lavish wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan and Princess Rajah.

This marked the first appearance of the diamond tiara in over two decades, reigniting public interest in royal jewelry and traditions.

The tiara was originally a gift to Beatrice’s mother, Sarah, Duchess of York, from her in-laws, the late Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, highlighting its sentimental value.

On a personal note, Lady Louise recently achieved a significant milestone by passing her driving test.

This accomplishment reflects her transition into adulthood and independence.

Despite her royal lineage, there are no immediate plans for her to assume full-time royal duties after graduation.
