Whoopi Goldberg, the outspoken host of The View, did not hold back her opinions on Meghan Markle and her recent interview with Oprah Winfrey.
During a fiery discussion on the show, Goldberg took aim at the former actress and royal, labeling her as a hypocrite and a bimbo who is allegedly attempting to dismantle the monarchy.
Stepping in for the ailing Joy Behar on the panel, Goldberg responded to Markle’s assertions that she felt objectified and belittled during her time as a model on Deal or No Deal.
Markle disclosed on her Archetypes podcast that she had felt like a bimbo while donning revealing outfits and smiling while holding a briefcase on the game show.
Goldberg, however, was unimpressed by Markle’s grievances, asserting that as a performer, she willingly accepted the role and should not cast a shadow over the other women on the show.
“The objectification might be coming from you and how you felt about how these women were being portrayed, and that’s what you have to change because we’re performers,” Goldberg remarked.
In addition to questioning Markle’s authenticity, Goldberg also doubted her credibility, suggesting that Markle fabricated her experiences as a royal and played the victim card.
Goldberg highlighted the luxuries and privileges Markle enjoyed as a member of the royal family, including extravagant weddings, vacations, and jewelry.
She contended that Markle’s complaints about media scrutiny and family tensions were unwarranted, accusing her of attempting to undermine the monarchy and British culture.
Goldberg went on to mock Markle’s claims of experiencing suicidal thoughts and facing racism within the royal family and the media.
Dismissing these assertions as exaggerations aimed at garnering sympathy, Goldberg accused Markle of playing the race and mental health cards for attention.
She argued that Markle’s actions were disrespectful to genuine victims of racism and mental health issues, emphasizing the lack of evidence supporting Markle’s allegations.
The reaction to Goldberg’s comments ignited a heated debate among both the co-hosts and viewers of The View, with varying opinions emerging in support or defense of her stance.
Undeterred, Goldberg stood firm in her position, asserting her right to critique Markle as a public figure.
Emphasizing her American identity and commitment to freedom, Goldberg expressed indifference towards the monarchy and Markle herself, maintaining that she would continue to call out what she perceived as hypocrisy and superficiality.
Goldberg’s response to Markle’s interview swiftly gained traction on social media, drawing both praise and criticism for her candid remarks.
Despite the polarizing reactions, Goldberg remained resolute, refusing to retract or apologize for her statements.
She reiterated her disdain for Markle and vowed to persist in holding her accountable for what she viewed as insincerity and shallowness.
