Prince William’s Reaction to King Charles‘ Humorous Remarks at State Banquet
Prince William found himself amused during a state banquet hosted by his father, King Charles, as the monarch delivered a speech welcoming the Emperor and Empress of Japan on their first day of a UK state visit.
The event, held to strengthen economic, diplomatic, and cultural ties between the two nations, took an unexpected turn when King Charles veered off into a lighthearted anecdote about fly fishing, Hello Kitty, and Pokemon.
In a departure from the usual formalities of such occasions, King Charles shared a personal story with Emperor Naohito, expressing regret over his lack of success in recent fishing endeavors.
Injecting humor into his speech, he cleverly referenced his grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in relation to the popular Japanese cartoon, Pokemon.
“The Pokemon phrase ‘gotta catch em all’ may resonate with my grandchildren, but for me, it is, perhaps, aspirational,” quipped King Charles.
