Sophie Wessex is reportedly feeling pleased and relieved now that she no longer has to curtsy to Meghan Markle.
With her new title as the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie now holds a higher rank than the Duchess of Sussex and is not required to perform the traditional curtsy upon meeting her.
A close friend of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh shared with the Daily Mail that Sophie is relieved to be free from the custom of curtsying to someone who not only stepped back from royal duties but also openly criticized the institution that Sophie dedicated herself to supporting.
According to insights from a body language expert cited by the Daily Express, Sophie appears to have taken a clear stance since Prince Harry and Meghan’s departure from the UK in 2020.
The expert noted that during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations last year, a particular photograph captured a telling moment.
As Prince Harry and Meghan took their seats at St Paul’s Cathedral, Prince Andrew greeted them warmly, while Sophie’s expression towards Harry seemed less than welcoming, according to the expert.
In the past, Sophie was recognized for her composed, approachable demeanor, while Harry was known for his more lighthearted and fun-loving nature, offering a glimpse into the human side of the royal family.
However, following Harry’s relocation to the US and his public disclosures, it appears that Sophie has aligned herself away from “Team Sussex,” as observed through her body language cues.
Contrary to expectations, it seems that Sophie’s husband, Edward, is not the one distancing himself socially from Harry, as initially speculated.
Instead, Sophie has emerged as a figure who has chosen to assert her position, supported by her new title as the Duchess of Edinburgh, which exempts her from the customary curtsy to Harry and Meghan.
