Royal Travel Rule: George and Charlotte to Be Separated on Journeys

In an unexpected twist for the young royals, Prince George and will soon be forbidden from traveling together due to a centuries-old regulation.

This rule, designed to protect the royal line of succession, will come into effect when George turns twelve in just 308 days.

It’s a significant change that could reshape their childhood experiences.

The regulation aims to ensure that if a tragic accident were to occur during travel, the immediate heirs to the throne wouldn’t all be lost at once.

As it stands, both George, who is currently eleven, and his younger sister Charlotte, aged nine, will have to navigate their travels separately once George reaches that milestone birthday.

It’s a stark reminder of the heavy responsibilities that come with royal status.

The news was brought to light by Graham Lorry, a former pilot for , who shared insights about the rule in an interview.

He reminisced about the times he flew with the whole family, including and , before William turned twelve.

“We flew all four until Prince William was twelve,” Lorry explained, highlighting how the dynamics will shift as the children grow older.

Once George hits twelve, he will be required to fly alone, while his family travels separately.

This separation will mark a new chapter for George, who will have to adapt to this unusual aspect of royal life.

The safety measures are rooted in a history of tragic aviation accidents that have affected the royal family over the years.

Historically, incidents like the 1937 crash that claimed the life of Princess Cecile, sister of , and other similar tragedies have led to stringent travel protocols for royals.

The memory of these losses looms large, influencing current regulations to avoid any potential risk to the monarchy’s future.

As George prepares to celebrate his eleventh birthday on July 22, 2025, the Princess of Wales recently shared a poignant black-and-white photograph of him.

This image stands in stark contrast to a more playful photo released last year, showcasing George lounging comfortably on steps, sleeves rolled up.

It’s a touching reminder of the innocence of childhood, even amidst the weighty responsibilities ahead.

In the latest portrait, George wears a friendship bracelet that closely resembles one worn by Charlotte during the Wimbledon men’s final, symbolizing their sibling bond.

These personal touches highlight the normalcy the family tries to maintain, despite the unique challenges they face as royals.
