King Charles has made a significant move by offering the Marquess of Chomondley, also known as David Rock Savage, a prestigious new position.
This decision marks a comeback for the Marquess and his wife Rose Hanbury, following his replacement as Lord Great Chamberlain last year.
The Marquess will now assume the role of the King’s Lord-in-Waiting, a role that will see him attending crucial state and royal events on behalf of his majesty.
The news of the Marquess’s new appointment has been warmly received by his close friends, including Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales.
Living at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, near Anmer in the picturesque East Anglian countryside, the Marquess and his wife Rose enjoy a tranquil life surrounded by vast parkland spanning a thousand acres.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2009, share three children together – twin sons Alexander and Oliver, and daughter Iris.
In his previous capacity as Lord Great Chamberlain, the Marquess had the unique duty of walking backward in front of the monarch during the state opening of parliament.
However, he had to step down from this role following the passing of Queen Elizabeth in September, as tradition dictates that it transitions to another aristocratic family upon the monarch’s demise.
The 7th Lord Carrington succeeded him, with his late father having served as Foreign Secretary under Margaret Thatcher.
The Marquess, holding the title of the 7th Marquess of Chomondley, divides his time between Norfolk and Cheshire, where his family has resided at Tromondley since the year 1200.
His late mother, the Dowager Marchioness Lavinia, resided at Tromondley Castle until her passing in November 2015.
Known for their amiable relations with the royal family, the Marquess and Marchioness are frequent attendees at royal gatherings, such as the recent service of thanksgiving for Prince Philip in 2022.
Adding to their royal connections, the Marquess’s wife, Rose Hanbury, has a familial tie to the monarchy through her grandmother Lady Rose Lambert, who served as a bridesmaid at Queen Elizabeth’s wedding in 1947.
Miss Hanbury, a former model, struck up a close friendship with Kate through their joint charity endeavors with the East Anglian Children’s Hospital.
Like the Duchess of Cambridge, she also shares a passion for photography, showcasing stunning images of the Houghton Hall estate on her Instagram account.
The love story of the Marquess and his wife Rose has been described as a whirlwind romance.
