Royal Rules Broken: Prince William and Kate’s Controversial Trip with George

In a surprising revelation, it turns out that and Princess Kate once broke an important royal protocol during their family trip to Australia in 2014.

The couple, eager to share their adventures with their young son, Prince George, embarked on this journey less than a year after his birth.

However, this seemingly innocent getaway came with significant implications under royal guidelines.

The 2014 trip was more than just a vacation; it raised eyebrows because it violated a longstanding royal rule regarding heirs traveling together.

According to royal tradition, heirs to the throne are typically not permitted to board the same aircraft.

This precaution is in place to safeguard the monarchy in case of an accident.

The late II would have had to grant her approval for both William and George to travel together.

As it stands, this rule will become even more relevant next year when George turns twelve.

At that age, he will no longer be able to fly with his father, Prince William, or his younger sister, , who is next in line for the throne.

This restriction stems from a similar situation faced by William himself when he turned twelve in 1994.

He was separated from his family during flights, a decision made to ensure the continuation of the royal line.

Graham Lorry, a former pilot for , shed light on this unique aspect of royal travel.

He recalled that until William reached that pivotal age, the entire family could travel together, provided they had written consent from the Queen.

After turning twelve, William was required to fly separately, often in a different aircraft from his younger siblings.

Beyond this peculiar travel rule, the royal family also has to adhere to another unexpected regulation.

When traveling, they must have blood supplies on hand that match their blood types.

This precaution ensures that in the event of a medical emergency, such as a need for a transfusion, they can respond swiftly.

Dickie Arbiter, former press secretary to the late Queen, discussed this on Hello’s A Right Royal podcast.

He emphasized the importance of being prepared for any eventuality, which includes having suitable blood on board.

The unpredictability of reaching a destination with the right blood type makes this protocol essential.

In addition to carrying blood supplies, the Queen would often travel with a Royal Navy doctor during her excursions.

This physician was responsible for not only attending to the royal family’s health needs but also scouting local medical facilities in case of emergencies.

The logistics surrounding royal travel are indeed complex.

Both the Queen and the Prince of Wales have personal blood packs that accompany them wherever they go, especially in regions where blood supply might be unreliable.

This level of preparation underscores the challenges faced by the royal family, as they navigate their public duties while ensuring their safety.

Their travel arrangements are meticulously planned, reflecting the weight of their responsibilities.
