While most of the royal family gathered at Balmoral in the Scottish Highlands to spend time with King Charles and Queen Camilla, two key members were notably absent.
Zara and Mike Tyndall did not join the rest of the family at the property over the August weekend.
Instead, Zara was busy competing at the Wellington International Trials in Hampshire.
The 42-year-old professional equestrian was accompanied by her husband of 12 years, Mike, and their three children – Mia, Lena, and Lucas.
During the competition’s final day, Zara, dressed in a navy blazer and white shorts, showcased her skills while Mike took care of their young family from the sidelines.
At one point, he amused two-year-old Lucas by giving him a piggyback ride while they cheered Zara on.
Despite their absence from Balmoral this year, the Tyndalls have been frequent visitors in the past, including spending time with Zara’s grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth, during her final days last summer.
Among those present at Balmoral over the weekend were the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, and Duchess Sophie.
Some of them attended a Sunday church service at Leek Kirk near the castle.
Following the service, Princess Anne and her husband, Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence, were spotted driving back to the castle, joining the other royals for the summer break.
The annual gathering at Balmoral holds significance for the royal family, serving as a time for them to come together and enjoy each other’s company away from the public eye.
While Zara and Mike’s absence may have raised eyebrows, their commitment to Zara’s equestrian pursuits is well-known, showcasing their dedication to their respective passions and responsibilities.
