A royal expert has made a bold statement regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, suggesting that they should be fired and stripped of all their royal titles.
The couple, who are no longer senior members of the royal family after stepping down from their duties in 2020, have faced criticism for continuing to use their titles despite this change.
Sarah Vine, in a scathing column for the Daily Mail, argued that Harry and Meghan’s recent actions warrant them being permanently stripped of their titles.
She specifically pointed to their trip to Jamaica as evidence of their intentions to distance themselves from the monarchy.
Vine accused the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of using their royal connections to undermine the reputation of the royal family as well as the institution itself.
She expressed concern that their actions could fuel anti-monarchy sentiment not only in the Commonwealth but also globally.
The expert highlighted the couple’s attendance at the premiere of Bob Marley’s documentary, “One Love,” alongside Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, a vocal critic of Jamaica’s ties to the monarchy.
Holness has even announced plans for a referendum on the monarchy by 2025, further complicating the situation.
Vine lamented that such actions would have disappointed the late Queen, who valued the Commonwealth and worked to foster unity and understanding among its members.
She suggested that King Charles may have no choice but to strip Harry and Meghan of all their titles to prevent further damage.
In addition to losing their HRH titles, Prince Harry has also relinquished his military titles and no longer wears his military uniform in public.
The couple’s decision to step back from royal duties in 2020 led them to relocate to the United States with their children, Archie and Lilibet.
Archie, born in 2019, was initially not given a royal title as he was a grandson rather than a great-grandson of a monarch.
However, with King Charles’s ascent to the throne, both Archie and Lilibet became eligible for the titles of Prince and Princess, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.
As the debate over Harry and Meghan’s royal status continues, it remains to be seen how the royal family will address these concerns raised by experts like Sarah Vine.
The couple’s actions and choices in the coming months may determine the future of their royal ties and titles.
