Prince George and King Charles have a unique connection to Romania, as it has been revealed that they each own land close to each other in the Eastern European nation.
Count Tiber Calnicke, a close friend of the monarch, gifted George a wildflower meadow for his christening, located just an hour’s drive away from the king’s farmhouse in the village of Viscri.
Count Tiber explained that the wildflowers symbolize protection for the area and aim to raise public awareness about preserving rare flora.
Despite receiving the meadow back in 2013, Prince George has not yet had the opportunity to visit Romania, unlike King Charles who developed a fondness for the country after visiting in 1998.
The king frequently enjoys walking holidays in the Romanian countryside, having purchased a farmhouse in the village of Viscri.
Recently, it was announced that Charles would be embarking on his first official trip to his Romanian retreat, known as the Blue House, which he acquired in 2006.
The Blue House, when not occupied by the king, is available for public rental and boasts seven double bedrooms with en suites, a drawing and dining room, a sitting room, and a kitchen.
The property exudes a rustic charm with its high ceilings, vintage Transylvanian furnishings, and deliberate absence of televisions or radios to promote a serene and tranquil environment.
Queen Camilla will not be accompanying Charles on this trip, as she will be staying at her home in Wiltshire.
This week, the royal couple made a surprise visit to Northern Ireland, where they engaged with local businesses and enjoyed performances by Irish and Ulster Scots dancers at Iskallan Castle.
King Charles’ choice of sunglasses garnered attention, with social media users dubbing him “King Kool” and praising his stylish eyewear.
The couple’s itinerary included meetings with local officials and a serenade by the Caritas Chamber Choir.
King Charles is scheduled to venture to the Romanian countryside next month, where he will spend time at his farmhouse in Viscri, a place he holds dear since his first visit over two decades ago.
During his stay, he may consider visiting the wildflower meadow gifted to Prince George by Count Tiber Kalnicki, emphasizing the importance of preserving rare plant species.
Although George has not visited the meadow himself, it remains a cherished gift from his christening.
In addition to his visits to Romania, King Charles spends several days a year at the Blue House, allowing the public to experience the tranquility of the property.
With its distinctive blue exterior and traditional interior decor, the guesthouse offers a peaceful retreat away from modern distractions.
The bedrooms feature antique furnishings, while the overall ambiance reflects a commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the surroundings.
As Prince George approaches his school half-term break, there is speculation that his parents may take him to visit the wildflower meadow during their time off.
The meadow stands as a poignant reminder of the bond between the young royal and his grandfather, King Charles, bridging generations through a shared appreciation for nature and conservation efforts.
