Every year, Shrove Tuesday brings a delightful tradition for the royal family, especially for Princess Kate and her three children.
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have all expressed their love for making pancakes on this special day.
However, last year, Kate shared a humorous concern about how her kids might react to her pancake-making skills—or lack thereof.
During a visit to Oxford House Care Home on Shrove Tuesday in February 2022, Kate took part in a pancake-flipping competition.
The event was meant to be fun, but things didn’t go as planned for the Princess of Wales.
She attempted to flip a pancake but ended up failing spectacularly, which led to a fit of laughter from both her and the onlookers.
In a light-hearted moment, she remarked on her fears that her children might boycott pancakes altogether after witnessing her culinary mishaps.
“Perhaps the kids won’t want to make pancakes.
We’ve seen you do it, Mama.
No way,” she joked, reflecting on her less-than-stellar pancake performance.
Despite her struggles, Kate kept trying to flip the pancake, displaying a spirit of perseverance.
After several attempts, she finally managed to turn one over but cheekily warned everyone not to eat it.
“Definitely don’t eat that pancake,” she quipped, adding that the ones she made earlier were much better.
The royal mother also took a moment to apologize to one of the chefs, acknowledging that she hadn’t done his work justice.
With a playful jab, she referred to the pancake as a “congealed blob,” showing that she doesn’t take herself too seriously, even in front of an audience.
