In a recent interview on BBC Radio 1, Prince William let slip his favorite emoji, and it’s definitely raising eyebrows.
During the “Going Home” segment, the Prince of Wales was asked about his preferred cartoon text character, and his response was anything but ordinary.
He humorously navigated the question, revealing that he had to be careful about his choice.
When pressed for an answer, William playfully inquired, “Is this a clean thing or is this a family one?” It turns out he had been advised against choosing the aubergine emoji—a symbol often associated with more adult themes.
Instead, he opted for another option, saying, “It would have been the aubergine, but I’m saying now, because I’ve got to be all grown-up, it’s the one where the eyes go up and down and the mouth’s out.”
The hosts, Jordan North and Vic Hope, were taken aback by William’s candidness.
Vic even joked, “Prince William is dirtier than anything you’ve ever said,” adding that she hopes the future King of England has a bit of a naughty side.
It’s a refreshing glimpse into the royal family’s more playful side.
In contrast, Princess Kate kept things a bit more wholesome with her emoji pick.
She revealed that her favorite emoji is the heart combined with the crying face, explaining it reflects the “sort of like hysterical laughing when things have gone wrong.” This sweet yet humorous choice shows a different side of the royal couple’s personalities.
The couple shared more than just their emoji preferences during the interview.
They also discussed their dinner plans while hosting a forum in Birmingham for World Mental Health Day in October 2023.
Kate playfully suggested options like curry, teriyaki, or salmon, while William chimed in with a light-hearted confession about his spice tolerance.
“I can’t do too much spice.
I start sweating.
It’s not attractive,” he admitted.
Kate added to the banter, saying she has to ease him into spicier dishes to avoid a sweaty situation.
Their easygoing conversation painted a picture of a relatable couple managing the everyday challenges of family life, despite their royal status.
Royal emoji usage has garnered attention over the years, especially with the younger members of the family.
