Prince William assumed a significant role in the state visit as he warmly received the Emperor of Japan.
The Prince of Wales, representing his father King Charles, initiated the official welcome for Emperor Nahito and Empress Masako at their London hotel on Tuesday, June 25.
Clad in a sleek black morning suit complemented by a striking red tie, Prince William graciously greeted the esteemed guests, setting the tone for a day filled with various engagements.
Following the cordial introduction, Prince William accompanied the imperial couple to the grand Horse Guards Parade in London for a ceremonial reception, alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla.
This is not the first time Prince William has led such a royal welcome, as he and his wife, Kate Middleton, performed a similar role back in November 2023 during the state visit of the President of South Korea.
However, this time, Prince William stood alone in his duties, as Princess Catherine continues her battle with cancer.
Despite making a public appearance at Trooping the Colour on June 15, marking her return after six months, Princess Catherine’s involvement did not signify a complete re-entry into royal duties and public life.
In a heartfelt personal letter shared on June 14, she disclosed her gradual return to work from home and expressed her desire to participate in a few public events over the summer.
