**Prince William Celebrates Seaweed Industry in Surprise Cardiff Visit**

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, made an unexpected trip to Cardiff to commemorate the seaweed industry.

During his visit to Cardiff Metropolitan University, the future king engaged with businesses and organizations that are harnessing the potential of seaweed.

In a lighthearted moment, shared a childhood anecdote about a golfing mishap that resulted in a head injury when he was just 8 years old.

Interacting with Pierre Posselier, the co-founder and co-CEO of Knottler, a company that provides seaweed packaging to prominent sports and music venues nationwide, Prince William examined a biodegradable golf tee crafted from seaweed.

When asked if he played golf, the Duke humorously responded, “No, the last time I played golf,” gesturing towards his head, referencing the incident from his youth.

The incident in question occurred in June 1991 when a young Prince William, then attending Ludgrove Preparatory School in Wokingham, was accidentally struck by a golf club while playing with friends.

Despite the scare, the prince’s journey to Cardiff was marked by a train ride, with Kensington Palace sharing a snapshot of him en route this morning.

In a bilingual social media post, Kensington Palace mentioned, “En route to Cardiff today to celebrate seaweed innovation,” highlighting the significance of the visit.

Another post underscored the environmental importance of seaweed, stating, “Seaweed is one of the most abundant resources on the planet, offering potential solutions to global environmental challenges.”

During his time in Cardiff, Prince William participated in an event showcasing international businesses leveraging seaweed across various sectors.

The royal also explored how Wales contributes to the global food and beverage industry through advancements in food science, product development, and biomedical sciences.

His initial destination was Cardiff Metropolitan University, where an event hosted by the Earthshot Prize and the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales honored the Welsh seaweed industry’s achievements.
