Prince George, the young royal, received a lavish gift worth £18,000 from his grandfather, Prince Charles, to celebrate his first birthday.
The extraordinary present came in the form of a deluxe Wendy house, complete with a wood-burning stove and day bed, making it a luxurious playhouse fit for a prince.
Situated in his grandfather’s garden at Highgrove, the upmarket Wendy house remains a cherished gift for Prince George, who is now eight years old, as well as his siblings Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four.
Crafted as a hand-built shepherd’s hut, the Victorian-style playhouse measures 12 feet by 6 feet and is a sight to behold in the gardens of Prince Charles’s Gloucestershire estate.
Visitors on guided tours of the 15-acre grounds can catch a glimpse of this impressive structure, which was gifted to Prince George by the Dorset-based company Plankbridge as a token of appreciation for the support received from the Prince’s Trust.
Nestled in a picturesque wildflower meadow, the Wendy house stands as a symbol of craftsmanship and generosity.
The mastermind behind Plankbridge, furniture designer Richard Lee, established the company 15 years ago after being inspired by an ancient hut near Thomas Hardy’s cottage in Dorset.
The intricate details and quality craftsmanship of the Wendy house reflect Lee’s passion for creating unique and exquisite structures that blend seamlessly with nature.
