King Charles III has officially declared the new royal titles for his son, Prince William, and daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton.

With the recent developments, they have also become the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, titles previously held by Charles and Camilla, which are used when they are in Scotland.
Despite maintaining their Cambridge titles, the couple now also bear the titles of Earl and Countess of Chester.
The process of acquiring the title of Prince of Wales is not automatic and requires the King’s authorization.
The issuance of a legal instrument known as a patent of letters signifies the monarch’s endorsement of conferring such prestigious titles.
