Rumors of a potential rift between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Beckhams have been circulating recently.
According to royal author Tom Power, Meghan Markle was apprehensive about sharing the limelight with Victoria and David Beckham during her inaugural international royal tour.
In October 2018, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex embarked on their first international royal tour as a married couple, Prince Harry reportedly maintained a distance from the renowned couple, despite accompanying them to Australia along with their sons Cruz and Romeo to show support for the Invictus Games.
In an article for The Sun, Power disclosed that Meghan, now Duchess of Sussex, was the driving force behind the perceived separation.
Allegedly, she was reluctant to have any media attention diverted towards the Beckhams, especially Victoria.
Power further elaborated that Meghan seemed averse to any positive coverage involving the Beckhams in the press.
Although Meghan and Harry were not publicly seen with the former footballer, who actively participated in Invictus events and championed the cause during his time in Australia, the organization founded by the Duke acknowledged David’s role as an ambassador for the Games in a detailed online post.
While there are no visual records of Victoria’s presence at the Games, it is speculated that she also accompanied her family to the event.
The close relationship between the Sussexes and the Beckhams had been nurtured over the preceding months, following their proximity as neighbors in Oxfordshire and their attendance at the royal wedding in May 2018.
Power’s assertions surfaced amidst reports of a more recent altercation between Beckham and the Sussexes, which purportedly strained relations between the two parties.
The evolving dynamics between the high-profile families have garnered significant attention and speculation in the media.
