Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has once again found herself at the center of attention, with speculations arising that she may have been subtly mocking King Charles III.
The incident, which took place on Monday, December 4, in Santa Barbara, California, has left onlookers questioning the intentions behind Markle’s actions towards the King.
Some believe it was a deliberate act of mockery, while others wonder if it was meant as an olive branch gesture.
Markle was spotted out and about in Santa Barbara, clad in workout attire and adorned with luxurious jewelry pieces.
Amongst her accessories were Princess Diana‘s watch and a Bentley and Skinner diamond tennis bracelet embellished with 92 round-cut diamonds, estimated to be valued at a minimum of £4,900.
Notably, the diamond bracelet was a gift from King Charles himself, presented to Markle on the eve of her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.
Additionally, she sported her Cartier love bracelet, prompting interpretations ranging from subtle support to outright mockery of the King.
The incident sparked a flurry of reactions on social media platforms, with users on X, formerly known as Twitter, expressing varying opinions on Markle’s actions.
One user criticized her, stating, “More like rubbing his face in it.
This is a paid pap walk of a narcissist.”
Another questioned Markle’s motives, asking, “Is she offering him an olive branch?
Or is she mocking him?”
Meanwhile, a different user highlighted Markle’s alleged history of mockery, stating, “She’s mocking him, just like she did with the titles.”
Markle’s choice to wear the contentious bracelet during a hike with friends, instead of attending her father-in-law’s coronation in London, further fueled speculation surrounding her intentions.
This incident follows closely on the heels of journalist Omid Scobie’s book, Endgame, which was released at the end of last month.
The book shed light on a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Markle and Prince Harry disclosed that two members of the royal family had expressed concerns about the potential skin color of their son, Prince Archie, during Markle’s pregnancy.
While the names of the individuals making the alleged racial comments were not disclosed during the interview, they were reportedly revealed in the Dutch translation of Scobie’s book.
Despite most of the British press opting not to divulge the identities of those involved, Piers Morgan chose to disclose the details on his uncensored talk show.
