Meghan Markle Faces Backlash Over Monogram and Thank You Letter

Meghan Markle, once again under the spotlight, is facing criticism over her use of a monogram with a crown above the letter M in one of her handwritten notes.

The revelation came from royal biographer Angela Levin, who pointed out that Meghan’s attempt to portray herself as an upper-class lady with such embellishments is perceived as pretentious by some.

According to Levin, the inclusion of a crown in the monogram is seen as a deliberate move to elevate Meghan’s status in the eyes of the public.

However, Levin also noted that Meghan’s efforts may come across as showy and self-indulgent rather than genuine.

Levin further commented on Meghan’s writing style, highlighting that despite her attempts to appear sophisticated, her handwriting lacks consistency and neatness.

Describing Meghan’s penmanship as messy and lacking attention to detail, Levin suggested that Meghan’s focus on grandiose gestures may be overshadowing the actual content of her messages.

The attempt to add flourish to her letters, according to Levin, results in a messy and distracting appearance rather than a classy one.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made headlines in January 2020 when they announced their decision to step back from their royal duties, a move that was officially confirmed by Buckingham Palace in February 2021.

While the palace expressed sadness over their departure, they emphasized that Harry and Meghan remain cherished members of the royal family.

However, tensions escalated following the couple’s relocation to the US and their subsequent revelations about royal life during an interview with .

Professor Pauline McLaren from Royal Holloway University weighed in on the aftermath of “Megxit,” suggesting that the couple’s approach to stepping back from royal duties had stirred more controversy than necessary.

McLaren, an expert in royal branding, opined that a quieter exit without seeking media attention could have preserved better relations between the Sussexes and the royal family.

The continuous stream of disclosures from Harry and Meghan has only exacerbated existing tensions and raised concerns about the future of their relationship with the monarchy.

In a recent development, faced accusations of breaching British royal protocol by publicly announcing her participation in the US mid-term elections.

The Sussexes’ involvement in campaigning against voter suppression, particularly in support of the Democratic party, has raised eyebrows and drawn criticism for potentially compromising the royal family’s political neutrality.

Royal correspondent Richard Palmer highlighted the delicate position the Sussexes find themselves in, especially given the ongoing trade tensions between the US and the UK.

Palmer noted that while Meghan has not explicitly endorsed any political party, her active engagement in campaigns related to voting rights could be interpreted as taking a stance.

The timing of Meghan’s involvement, amid sensitive international relations, has added complexity to the situation.

With the UK navigating post-Brexit trade negotiations with the US, Meghan’s actions have sparked concerns within Buckingham Palace about the potential implications of her political activities on diplomatic relations.
