Lady Louise Windsor has officially stepped into her third year at the University of St Andrews, marking a significant milestone in her academic journey.
This year, however, her experience is markedly different from that of her older cousin, Prince William, who attended the same prestigious university over two decades ago.
While Prince William was under the constant scrutiny of the media, Lady Louise has managed to navigate her university life without the need for a formal agreement with the institution.
The 19-year-old royal, often regarded as the favorite grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II, began her studies in 2022 and has enjoyed a much quieter atmosphere during her time at St Andrews.
Back in the early 2000s, Prince William’s enrollment at St Andrews caused quite a stir among royal watchers.
His presence led to a frenzy that prompted Sir Michael Peat, then private secretary to King Charles, to assure the press of regular updates on the prince’s activities.
This arrangement was made to keep the media at bay, allowing William some degree of privacy during his studies.
Fast forward to today, and Lady Louise’s situation is strikingly different.
With more than 20 years separating their respective university experiences, the dynamics have shifted.
According to Luana Ribeira, founder of Dauntless PR, St Andrews has become adept at managing the unique challenges posed by having a royal student.
This expertise has likely contributed to Louise’s relatively low profile.
The media landscape has evolved since William’s days at St Andrews.
While he was often the center of attention, Lady Louise has flown under the radar, benefiting from her lesser-known status.
Ribeira pointed out that because of this anonymity, it’s unlikely that Louise will need the same level of protection or formal arrangements that her cousin once required.
Despite her royal lineage, Lady Louise seems to be embracing a more understated university life.
Sources suggest that she is selective about her friendships and tends to steer clear of scenarios that might draw unwanted media attention.
This strategy not only allows her to focus on her studies but also helps maintain a sense of normalcy amidst her royal background.
