**King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Unconventional Retreat at Bourke Hall**

King Charles and Queen of the British Royal Family have chosen to break tradition by opting to spend their annual Scottish summer holiday at Bourke Hall rather than Balmoral Castle.

This decision marks a departure from the usual practice of staying at Balmoral, where the Royal Family typically gathers for some rest and relaxation during the summer months.

Following the passing of II last September, and Queen Camilla have taken on the responsibility of leading the family during their summer retreat.

While Queen Elizabeth II cherished her time at Balmoral, using it as a peaceful escape from royal duties, King Charles has decided to forge his own path by residing at Bourke Hall, their private residence within the estate.

Bourke Hall holds a special place in the history of the Royal Family, with ties dating back to the 18th century when it was built by the Farquharson clan.

Acquired by the Royal Family in 1852 as a gift from Prince Albert to his son, the future King Edward VII, the property has seen generations of royals enjoying holidays there.

The late Queen Mother played a significant role in the care and upkeep of Bourke Hall until her passing in 2002, after which ownership passed to Prince Charles.

He has since added his personal touch to the gardens, reflecting his passion for gardening that he shares with his grandfather, King George VI.

The serene surroundings of Bourke Hall, nestled next to the tranquil river Mick, provide a peaceful retreat for King Charles and Queen Camilla.

The property boasts impressive grounds with a sloping garden, fruit trees, and red rose beds, creating a picturesque setting for the royal couple’s stay.

Inside Bourke Hall, the focus remains on family, with King Charles preserving his late grandmother’s collection of Vanity Fair prints and displaying family portraits throughout the residence.

The cozy drawing room features portraits of Princes William and Harry with their families, showcasing the close bond shared among the royal family members.

For Queen Camilla, Bourke Hall offers a space to carve out her own sanctuary, with a private office adorned with family photos, including a painting of King Charles.

The couple’s Christmas celebrations in 2020 were held against the backdrop of the grand entrance and expansive porch of Bourke Hall, highlighting the warmth and intimacy of their family gatherings.

While Bourke Hall may not be the traditional choice for the British monarch and consort’s summer retreat, King Charles and Queen Camilla’s decision to create their own traditions at this historic residence reflects their desire for a more personal and intimate holiday experience.

As they embark on this new chapter at Bourke Hall, the royal couple continues to honor the legacy of the Royal Family while embracing their own unique journey.
