Less than three years since settling into their $22 million Californian compound, the former frontline royals, Harry and Meghan, are embarking on a significant change.
The couple, along with their children, son Archie and daughter Lilibet, currently reside in an $11.2 million mansion in Montecito, California.
However, recent reports suggest that Harry and Meghan are considering purchasing another property just a few miles away.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might bid farewell to their $14 million mansion in the near future.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly eyeing an exclusive California private community known as Hope Ranch.
Sources indicate that the couple realized their current expansive residence may not be the ideal fit for their family of four, raising questions about whether the home is too spacious or too cramped for their needs.
Situated in Santa Barbara County, approximately 10 miles from Montecito, Hope Ranch is home to only 2,000 residents and caters to individuals who appreciate equestrian activities and a relaxed yet luxurious lifestyle, according to the Randy Solekian Estate Group.
Properties in this area range from $2.3 million to $33.95 million, with a median price of $4.8 million.
While rumors suggest that Meghan and Harry have potentially secured the new property, no official confirmation has been provided.
Speculation regarding the couple’s impending relocation surfaced following reports of criminal activity targeting the Montecito neighborhood, including a burglary ring.
Notable personalities residing in the area include Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, and Ellen DeGeneres.
In response to the surge in crime, law enforcement installed high-tech cameras capable of scanning passing vehicles’ license plates.
Authorities reassured residents that the surveillance technology does not employ facial recognition and that data collected will be erased every 30 days unless required for investigations.
To enhance their security measures, the Duke and Duchess have reportedly enlisted the services of a new bodyguard, Christopher Sanchez, a former U.S. Secret Service agent who previously safeguarded Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
Sanchez now works for a security firm offering tailored protection services to affluent clients, including corporate executives and diplomats.
Notably, Meghan and Harry have established a strong support network in California, where their Hollywood agents, public relations professionals, and business managers are based, alongside Meghan’s mother, Doria.
The Montecito mansion, spanning 18,000 square feet on five acres of land, features nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a wine cellar, library, spa, gym, arcade, movie theater, and a five-car garage.
Meghan expressed her immediate connection to the property in an interview with The Cut, recounting how the house captivated them during their search.
She described the feeling upon entering the home as one of joy, relaxation, and freedom, emphasizing its healing qualities.
