Royal Residences Shuffle: Prince Charles to Move into Buckingham Palace, William and Kate Eye Windsor Castle

Rumors from insiders suggest that Prince Charles, aged 73, is making plans to shift his residence to Buckingham Palace once he ascends to the throne, while William and Kate may consider moving to Windsor Castle.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, the Prince of Wales firmly believes that a monarch should be based at the historic Buckingham Palace, considering it the epitome of the monarchy’s presence in the capital city.

Previously, it was thought that the official London residence would serve as more of a working center and potentially opened to the public.

However, sources now indicate that the heir to the throne intends to reside in Buckingham Palace himself.

Currently, Prince Charles resides with at Clarence House, the former London dwelling of the Queen Mother in Westminster.

Buckingham Palace has been the designated official London residence for British monarchs since Queen Victoria’s time in 1837, boasting a massive 775-room structure that is currently undergoing renovations scheduled for completion by 2027.

An insider revealed to the Mail that Charles has no intention of moving until he becomes King, emphasizing the necessity of having a monarch at the helm of Monarchy HQ.

Drawing parallels to the Queen, he envisions working from Buckingham Palace, echoing the sentiment that it is fitting for the monarch to operate from this iconic location.

Meanwhile, it is speculated that William and Kate are eyeing Windsor Castle as their future abode, having resided at Kensington Palace since 2017 and also owning a residence on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk gifted by the Queen.

Following their wedding in May 2018, and sought the Queen’s approval to reside at Windsor Castle, a request that was turned down.

The couple, who now enjoy life in the US with their children and , had initially moved into a small cottage at Kensington Palace before expressing the need for a larger space suitable for raising a family.

Despite their aspirations, the Queen redirected them to Frogmore Cottage instead of granting access to living quarters within Windsor Castle, a decision that royal expert Hugo Vickers suggests may have been due to concerns about appropriateness.

In a surprising turn of events, Camilla is set to be bestowed with the title of Queen when Prince Charles assumes the throne, a departure from the previous plan of her being known as Princess Consort.

Expressing her desire during an address commemorating her accession day, the Queen, aged 95, conveyed her sincere wish for Camilla to be recognized as Queen Consort.

This unexpected development has reportedly left Charles and Camilla deeply moved and honored by the decision, marking a significant royal reversal in their anticipated titles.
