Prince Harry’s Absence at Duke of Edinburgh’s Memorial Sparks Controversy

Prince Harry, aged 37, will not be attending his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh’s memorial service on March 29, as confirmed.

However, reports suggest that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to make an appearance at the Oscars on March 27, stirring up a wave of criticism.

Royal expert Angela Mallard expressed concerns over Harry’s decision, cautioning that royal enthusiasts might be deeply disappointed if he opts for the glitz of the Oscars over honoring his late grandfather.

In an interview with Australian morning show Sunrise, Mallard questioned the priorities of Prince Harry, pointing out the stark contrast between attending a glamorous event like the Oscars and missing a significant family occasion like the memorial service.

Presenter Kylie Gillies also chimed in, expressing bewilderment at Harry’s choice, emphasizing the importance of being present for family during such moments of remembrance.

Mallard further emphasized that if Prince Harry does attend the Oscars instead of the memorial service, it is likely to trigger widespread outrage among royal followers.

The situation has been compounded by remarks from royal commentator Matt DeGroote, who suggested that Harry’s decision may have been influenced by misguided advice and unrealistic security demands.

DeGroote criticized Harry for what he perceived as a disconnect from reality, highlighting the inconsistency in the Sussexes’ approach to privacy and public exposure.

Gillies echoed the sentiment that Prince Harry could balance both attending the Oscars and honoring his grandfather’s memory, underscoring the significance of familial bonds over external engagements.

DeGroote reiterated his stance that Harry’s choices seemed driven by ill-advised counsel and trivial disputes, pushing him further away from the positive public image he once held.

In another development, hopes of reconciliation between Prince William and Prince Harry have been dashed due to the upcoming release of Harry’s tell-all memoir.

The rift between the brothers, stemming from Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties in 2020, appears irreparable as Harry’s decision to skip the memorial service adds a new layer of tension.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams expressed doubt about the possibility of the brothers mending their relationship, hinting at the potential revelations in Harry’s forthcoming book.

The memoir, expected to delve into Harry’s personal experiences, including his military service and marriage, is anticipated to shed light on his perspective on family dynamics and past events.

Ghostwriter J.R. Moringa, a renowned American journalist, is collaborating on the project, aiming to provide an intimate portrayal of Harry’s life journey.

Biographer Omid Scobie hinted that while the memoir will offer insights into Harry’s life, certain topics will be off-limits, particularly those that could cast a negative light on the monarchy or the Queen.
