Rick Hoffman, famed for his portrayal of the charmingly flawed Louis Litt on the hit series “Suits,” recently opened up about the show’s unexpected comeback.
This resurgence has left many speculating about the role Meghan Markle‘s royal marriage to Prince Harry might have played in reigniting interest.
For those who haven’t caught up yet, “Suits” skyrocketed back into popularity after being added to Netflix, transforming into a binge-worthy favorite once again.
Meghan Markle, who portrayed the ambitious paralegal Rachel Zane before stepping away from acting to embrace royal life, is undeniably a significant figure in this narrative.
Given the show’s leap from cult classic to a Netflix sensation, one might expect Hoffman, who shared the screen with Meghan for nearly a decade, to celebrate her influence.
However, when asked about the connection between Meghan’s marriage and the show’s renewed fame during an interview on KFC Radio, Rick didn’t exactly shower her with praise.
Instead, he steered the conversation back to himself, stating, “If I hadn’t shown up that day, I wouldn’t have been cast in Suits.”
This comment shifted the focus away from Meghan and onto his own journey, suggesting a more personal perspective on the show’s success.
To provide some context, Meghan and Harry began their relationship in 2016, and by 2017, Meghan had already decided to exit “Suits” after seven successful seasons.
She left to join one of the most scrutinized couples in the world.
Meanwhile, “Suits” continued for two more seasons, wrapping up in 2019.
Fast forward to 2023, and thanks to Netflix, the legal drama was rediscovered, dominating streaming charts for an entire month.
However, the excitement surrounding the show’s revival wasn’t universally shared among its cast.
At the Golden Globes in January, the reunion of the “Suits” cast was notable for the absence of Meghan Markle.
Gina Torres, who played the formidable Jessica Pearson, candidly remarked on Meghan’s absence, saying, “We don’t have a number.
We just don’t.”
This remark hinted at a disconnect, suggesting that Meghan may have become too royal to engage in casual group chats with her former colleagues.
Other “Suits” stars echoed similar sentiments.
Gabriel Macht, known for his role as Harvey Specter, admitted that aside from Meghan’s supportive nod towards the show’s resurgence, he hadn’t communicated directly with her.
Patrick J. Adams, who played Mike Ross, offered a blunt response when asked if he had been in touch with Meghan—his answer was a simple zero.
It appears that while the “Suits” cast is thriving in the post-Netflix era, Meghan’s transition into royal life has created a gap between her and her old friends.
The pressures of being part of the royal family seem to have distanced her from the camaraderie they once shared.
