Meghan Markle Left Fuming After Michael Douglas Snubs Cannes Invite

In a surprising twist at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, finds herself in a rather embarrassing situation.

It seems she thought she could charm Hollywood legend Michael Douglas into inviting her to the prestigious event.

But alas, Douglas, who is set to receive a palm d’or for his illustrious film career, had other plans.

The 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival is scheduled from May 16 to May 27, and Douglas, an Academy Award winner for his role in “Wall Street,” will be the guest of honor.

However, it appears Markle’s hopes of rubbing shoulders with him were dashed when he opted to ignore her call.

This left the Duchess of Sussex simmering with rage.

Just before the festival buzz began, Douglas made headlines by posing for a photo with a standee of II.

The accompanying caption read, “Our Best Wishes to and Meghan.”

This gesture, however, took a turn when the couple’s public statements about the royal family became increasingly controversial.

Douglas, known for his royalist views, decided he wanted no part in the Sussex scandal.

Despite being aware of Douglas’s loyalties, Markle reached out to him, hoping to secure an invite to Cannes.

Her aspirations to cement a place in Hollywood seem to have clouded her judgment, as she failed to recognize that Douglas might not be interested in associating with her.

In a swift move, he blocked her number, leaving Meghan both embarrassed and furious.

The opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival will kick off with a tribute to Douglas, followed by the screening of “Jean du Barry,” a biographical drama starring Maiwen and Johnny Depp.

Douglas has been a fixture in the film industry since the mid-60s, but his career took off in the 80s with iconic films like “Fatal Attraction” and “Wall Street.”

However, the early 2000s saw a dip in Douglas’s career, with several of his films receiving mixed reviews.

It wasn’t until he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hank Pym in “Ant-Man” that he found a new lease on his acting life.

The recent release of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” earlier this year further solidified his comeback.

Past recipients of the Honorary Palme d’Or include heavyweights like Tom Cruise and Jodie Foster, each recognized for their contributions to cinema.

Last year, Cruise garnered attention during the premiere of “Top Gun: Maverick,” while Douglas now joins this esteemed group.

Reflecting on his time at Cannes, Douglas expressed his gratitude, stating, “It’s always a breath of fresh air to be at Cannes, a wonderful platform for daring creators and storytelling excellence.” He reminisced about his first attendance in 1979 for “The China Syndrome” and how the festival has consistently celebrated the magic of cinema.

With over five decades in the industry, Douglas’s return to Cannes is a testament to his enduring legacy.

He emphasizes that the power of film transcends what’s seen on screen, impacting audiences around the world.

As the festival approaches, all eyes will be on Douglas and the tribute that honors his remarkable journey.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle may need to rethink her Hollywood strategy, as her recent attempts to align herself with A-listers continue to backfire spectacularly.
