Royal School Fees Soar: Wales Children’s Education Costs Hit £80,000

The cost of education for and Princess Kate’s children is set to skyrocket.

With the new school year underway, the annual school expenses for Prince George, , and will reach a staggering £80,000.

This substantial increase comes as a result of a rise in school fees that all parents at Lambrook School will face due to impending VAT regulations.

Currently, the total school fees for the three young royals amount to £79,387.20.

However, beginning January 1, 2025, families will see their tuition bills swell by 20%, courtesy of a new VAT law that applies to private school fees.

This means that the Wales family, like many others, will be grappling with the financial implications of this tax hike.

As the summer break draws to a close, the royal children are gearing up to return to school.

They recently spent their vacation at Balmoral, enjoying family time before heading back to Lambrook School.

But the news about rising fees has put a spotlight on the financial burden facing parents, especially those at prestigious private institutions.

Express.co.uk has reported that the current fee structure will be phased out at the end of this term.

Starting next year, parents will have to dig deeper into their pockets to cover the increased costs.

The new VAT regulations mean that tuition fees will now include a 20% tax, impacting all students enrolled at the school.

For Prince Louis, who is currently in Reception, the termly fee stands at £5,434.

With the VAT increase, his family will pay an additional £1,000 per term, bringing his total annual fees to £19,562.40.

This is a significant jump from previous costs, reflecting the broader trend of increasing educational expenses.

Princess Charlotte’s fees are also set to rise dramatically.

Currently enrolled in the lower school, her termly fee is £7,968.

With the new VAT rate, her annual fees will increase from £23,904 to an eye-watering £28,684.80.

This hike underscores the financial strain many families will face as they navigate the new fee structure.

Meanwhile, Prince George, who is in middle and upper school, has the highest tuition costs among his siblings.

His current fees of £8,650 per term will see a similar increase, pushing his annual expenses from £25,950 to £31,140.

Collectively, the Wales children’s education costs will hit a remarkable £79,387.20 annually once the VAT changes take effect.

The Lambrook School website notes that the current fees for the myCALMAS term are exempt from VAT, but this will change starting January 1, 2025.

As the academic landscape shifts, parents are left to navigate these rising costs while ensuring their children receive a quality education.

In the midst of these changes, the Wales family has returned to Berkshire to prepare for the new school year.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will be entering Year 7, Year 5, and Year 2, respectively.

Their return marks a new chapter in their educational journey, albeit one that comes with increased financial responsibility.

On the royal front, Prince William is scheduled to resume his royal duties soon, attending the Homelessness Refrained Exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

This event aims to highlight the experiences of artists who have faced homelessness, showcasing their resilience and creativity.

As for Princess Kate, she continues to focus on her health while undergoing cancer treatment.

Her public appearances have been limited this year, with only two notable events on her calendar.
