Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, may find themselves in need of a babysitter if they decide to attend King Charles III’s coronation on May 6th.
The royal couple has not confirmed their attendance yet, but considering that their children are still very young, it is unlikely that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will accompany them to the event.
At just three and one-and-a-half years old, respectively, the Sussex prince and princess would break from the traditional practice of royal children attending such ceremonies at a young age.
In contrast, when Prince Charles was four years old, he was present at his mother’s coronation in 1953.
However, his younger sister, Princess Royal, who was only two at the time, was deemed too young to join the proceedings.
A source from the royal circle revealed to the Daily Mirror that the Sussex children’s tender age has raised questions about their potential invitation to the coronation.
According to reports from The Daily Telegraph, the children are currently not on the guest list for the event.
Should Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet not be invited, Prince Harry and Meghan will have to arrange for someone to care for their children during the ceremony.
In the past, the couple has relied on the Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, for babysitting duties.
Doria, who resides close to the family in California, has been a dedicated and loving grandmother to the young royals.
Sources disclosed to The Sun in 2020 that she even has her own living quarters within the couple’s home.
While the couple previously had a nanny, Lauren Kumalo, who assisted with looking after Prince Archie during their time in the UK, it remains uncertain whether they have a similar arrangement in place in the United States.
One crucial factor influencing Prince Harry and Meghan’s decision is Prince Archie’s upcoming fourth birthday, which coincides with the coronation day.
If the young prince is not included in the guest list and the Sussexes choose to attend, they would be separated from their son on his special day.
Furthermore, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly contemplating whether to bring all of their children to the coronation.
