Meghan Markle’s SXSW Appearance: A Royal Ruckus in the Making

Mark your calendars, because Meghan Markle is at it again.

The Duchess of Sussex has found her way onto a panel at the South by Southwest Festival, and it’s stirring up quite the buzz.

What makes this appearance particularly eyebrow-raising is her co-panelist, Katie Couric, who has a history of candidly critiquing Prince Harry.

Remember when Couric described Harry as smelling like “a walking ashtray soaked in booze”?

Yeah, that was a memorable moment from her 2021 memoir, and it seems Meghan might have conveniently forgotten about it.

On March 6, 2024, audiences were reminded of Couric’s biting observations from her book, which included an incident at a Brazilian polo match where Harry’s cigarette and alcohol odor was hard to ignore.

This was well before Meghan entered his life, but it seems she’s decided to ignore the past—perhaps in a bid to reshape the narrative around her husband.

In what looks like a calculated move to grab attention, Meghan is seemingly trying to push Couric into making comments that could stir controversy regarding the British royal family.

It’s almost as if she’s orchestrated this setup to deflect any backlash onto Couric, while she remains safely behind the scenes.

However, Couric, known for her strong journalistic principles, may not be inclined to play along with Meghan’s game.

With Meghan’s popularity in the UK taking a nosedive, one would think she’d tread lightly, especially with the recent news of King Charles’s cancer diagnosis.

But subtlety seems to be lost on her.

After all, this is the same woman whose explosive interview with Oprah only deepened the rift between the Sussexes and the royal family, not to mention alienating them from the British public.

Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” added fuel to the fire, revealing intimate details about his relationships with his father and brother, all while painting a rather grim picture of royal life following Princess Diana’s passing.

It’s been a whirlwind of revelations, and not in a way that endears them to the monarchy or its supporters.

Lynne Carrot from Pressbox PR suggested that Meghan could regain some public favor by shifting her focus towards her professional endeavors instead of airing her grievances online.

Yet, true to form, Meghan appears more interested in playing the victim than taking charge of her narrative.

According to an interview from 2019 with the Daily Beast, the real issue lies in Meghan’s failure to understand her royal role.

She didn’t marry into royalty as a Hollywood starlet; she was a TV actress who became part of the royal family.

Instead of embracing her new responsibilities, she seems intent on leveraging her royal status for personal gain, disregarding the dignity that should accompany such a position.

Dignity and grace are qualities that Meghan seems to overlook as she continues to script her own drama, often at the expense of the royal family’s reputation.

It’s as if she’s more interested in being the star of her own show than fulfilling the duties of her title.

But here’s the kicker: all publicity isn’t good publicity.

Meghan’s antics have systematically alienated a significant portion of the British public, and her latest moves might just deepen that divide.
