4 Emotional King Charles Won’t Follow Queen Elizabeth II’s Tradition at Balmoral

King Charles and Queen are set to embark on their first summer vacation without the late II at Balmoral Castle, a departure from the longstanding tradition observed by the former monarch.

The late Queen, known for her fondness for the Scottish residence, spent her summers at Balmoral Castle until her passing last September, infusing the estate with sentimental significance.

However, and Queen Camilla have opted to deviate from this customary practice.

Instead of residing at Balmoral Castle, the new King and Queen have chosen Birchall as their summer retreat, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Birchall, a smaller private residence within the Balmoral estate, was inherited by Charles following the Queen Mother’s demise.

This decision marks the first time in over a century that Balmoral will not host a reigning monarch.

Anticipating an emotionally charged visit, former royal butler Grant Harold foresees King Charles dividing his time between Balmoral and his personal abode.

This summer getaway signifies a poignant milestone for the Royal Family, marking their initial vacation without the presence of Queen Elizabeth.

In light of last year’s events, where the Royal Family rallied around the Queen during her medical ordeal, Charles is expected to exhibit resilience and fortitude during this challenging period.

Reflecting on Charles’ character, Harold remarked that the King is likely to approach the visit with a sense of familiarity, drawing strength from his past experiences.

Additionally, Charles shares a close bond with the estate’s staff, fostering a supportive environment during his stay.

The absence of Queen Elizabeth is deeply felt by many, as her legacy continues to resonate within the walls of Balmoral.

Mail editor Rebecca Engish highlighted King Charles’ efforts in transforming Birchall into a cherished sanctuary, symbolizing a place of solace and belonging for the royal couple.

Despite choosing Birchall as their primary residence for the summer, Charles and Camilla remain committed to utilizing Balmoral for official functions and hosting visiting members of the Royal Family.

Among the anticipated guests are the Prince and Princess of Wales along with their three children, who are expected to join the King and Queen during their stay.

However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly declined the invitation to partake in the family gathering at Balmoral, marking their absence from the traditional summer retreat.

Notably, and Meghan have not visited Balmoral since 2018, signaling a shift in their holiday plans.
